Now in its 16th year, the AIFF Kids Youth Film Competition showcases short films being created by young people across the Atlantic Canadian provinces, and provides a platform for films to be celebrated in cinema. As Atlantic Canada’s largest youth film competition, the program is a free challenge for young people 18 years old or younger to develop skills as a filmmaker, regardless of previous filmmaking experience.

Films selected as “Finalists” in the Official Competition are eligible for juried prizes, in varying categories, and screen in-cinema for public audiences at Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Finalist films are also made widely available on the AIFF YouTube channel, where audiences have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
