Help Keep AIFF ALIVE

If you believe in the power of film to inspire, empower and connect, and in Atlantic Canada as a home for bold storytelling, consider becoming an AIFF donor today.

As a registered charity and non-profit organization, AIFF offers year-round programming that inspires youth, supports emerging filmmakers, and amplifies diverse cinematic voices. We help launch local stories onto the national stage while bringing audiences together to experience perspectives from around the world.

Your contribution helps ensure AIFF can continue fostering the next generation of filmmakers, championing Atlantic Canadian stories, and creating spaces where communities connect through a shared love of cinema.

The Atlantic Film Festival Association is a registered charity. As such, any donations are tax deductible.

About

The Atlantic International Film Festival (AIFF) is an eight-day festival featuring screenings of 100+ films from Atlantic Canada and around the globe. The festival presents films that cover a broad range of topics and genres, and is dedicated to presenting and elevating work from creators who are female-identified, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+ and Deaf and Disabled.

AIFF’s mission is to celebrate, elevate and advance the work of Atlantic Canadian filmmakers alongside a curated selection of films from around the globe, inspiring audiences with films that reflect a diversity of voices and perspectives.

History

The Atlantic Film Festival began as a tiny, grassroots operation in St.  John’s, Newfoundland in 1981, relocating to Halifax the following year. Four decades later, AIFF is firmly established as one of Canada’s premier film festivals with a vision is to continue to build a vibrant, inclusive, accessible, and sustainable festival with well-defined artist rights and strong industry collaborations.

Year-Round

In addition to the festival, AIFF offers year-round programming, including: AIFF Kids, a film festival for kids and youth; the AIFF Filmmaker Lab, a professional development program for emerging filmmakers from equity-deserving communities; and screenings with community partners.
