VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MANOELA PESSOA

Nadine: How did you get involved with the festival? How long have you been a volunteer?

Manoela: I was looking for a way to return to my work market, which is cinema, and I came across volunteer work at the Atlantic International Film Festival; I thought it might be interesting for me and I was delighted. This was my first volunteer job here in Canada.

N: What is your favourite Atlantic International Film Festival memory?

M: It was a day when I felt very comfortable speaking English and talking with other volunteers and spectators. It was a big achievement for me.

N: What part of the film festival would you recommend to a first-time festival goer?

M: As I love a party, I recommend going to a Gala Party because there you will find several directors, producers and people linked to cinema in a relaxed moment, but without being too dazzled so as not to get bored.

N: What do you most look forward to every year at FIN?

M: I would like to see more films from different countries in the festival, maybe a movie from Brazil! We (Brazilians) have very good and awarded films.

N: What is your favourite film?

CALL JANE. I simply loved this movie. And it was a pleasant surprise because I went to watch it without even reading the synopsis.

N: What is your favourite movie snack?

M: I'm traditional, like popcorn and soda.
