Educators can register youth of all ages, from Grades Primary–12.
The AIFF Kids team has curated programs for each age group, selected with curriculum-based learning outcomes in mind with the guidance of our specialized Teachers’ Advisory Committee.

The program is available for school groups only. Any school in Nova Scotia can register to see films in-cinema in their community, or online virtually for free.

Registration will open in Feb 2025.
Registration for the free in-cinema screenings and hands-on workshops are limited and on a first come first serve basis. Sign up for our AIFF Kids mailing list above.

AIFF does not provide transportation to the cinema. School participants will need to coordinate bus or transit travel for children to attend in-person screenings and workshops in their community.

A series of FREE in-person screenings and filmmaking workshops at three Cineplex Cinemas locations across Nova Scotia, with additional free virtual screenings available online for in-classroom viewing anywhere in Atlantic Canada. Since 2002, AIFF Kids has fostered a love of filmmaking and film-going in youth throughout our region.

AIFF Kids Online will be available to schools for free from March 2025. Films will be viewable through the streaming platform Eventive and can be accessed through a private link that AIFF will send prior to the two-week viewing window. Please fill out our Save the Date form to ensure you will receive the link to access AIFF Kids Online this year.

AIFF Kids celebrates the best in regional, national, and international films for youth and offers unique English and French programming for grades Primary - 12. The program includes feature length films and short film programmes, offering a wide range of animation, documentary, and live-action stories by diverse creators from Atlantic Canada and around the world. The films are always of the highest quality, and are entertaining to a youth audience. The 2025 program details will be announced in early February, 2025.

The AIFF Kids School Tour program tackles topical issues including: friendship, environment, cultural identity, and Indigenous histories. Films featured in the AIFF Kids School Tour have been approved and assigned grade range recommendations through the assistance of the AIFF Kids Teachers Advisory Committee (TAC), a committee of educators who viewed preselected material for the program. We understand children and youth respond in varied ways and recognize the final choices belong to teachers, parents and guardians. Where necessary, we’ve noted content warnings for mature subject matter, coarse language, nudity and/or violence on our website and in the Program Guide. For educators participating in AIFF Kids Online, we encourage you to watch the recommended film programme yourself in advance of sharing it with your class

YES, the AIFF Kids School Tour is free for school groups in Nova Scotia to attend either in person or virtually.

Yes, AIFF provides activity plans, and a list of in-classroom screening best practices. We encourage classrooms to participate and engage with the program and discuss the issues showcased in the film.
