Shane's first short film, The Seventh Man, won several awards and was very well received at multiple film festivals. As a writer and director Shane has the ability to carry his vision from pager to screen.

Logline:
A former hockey enforcer, now homeless and suffering from the early stages of CTE, is hounded by a tenacious reporter wanting to tell his story.
Synopsis:
Rick Bones Bonnard, 55, had been an enforcer in the early 90's, the golden age of the hockey fight. Flirting with the pro's, his personal issues derail his career, drugs and alcohol becoming a coping mechanism for his jaded childhood. Violence is his main drug, the pain and adrenaline masked his personal issues behind a veneer of toughness. Now he is a homeless man wandering the streets and begging for change. This is where Madeline 'Maddy' MacLean finds him, having had her last story fall out and concerned for her job, her instincts tell her Bones' story just might save her career. But as Bones relives his life to Maddy, the symptoms of his CTE flare, violent mood swings, physical twitches, wandering mind and suicidal tendencies. Maddy finds herself becoming more than an observer, she takes Bones in, she still wants to tell his story but the more she learns about Bones, the closer to her heart the story comes.
Bones recounts his early days, playing hockey to be with friends, when it was fun, but then it changes when the first time he fights, shortly after his mother passes away. His father, a boxer and failed hockey player, encourages Bones violent turn. Being a good fighter helps and soon Bones is being scouted as an enforcer. As his fame rises so does his ego, he starts to party and use drugs, leaning on alcohol to deal with his injuries and concussion symptoms. After a serious injury he is hospitalized, meeting his wife, a nurse. After six months she's pregnant and then they welcome a daughter, but the child doesn't fix Bones, it only makes him worse and two years later he causes the death of his daughter while driving drunk. He is sent to jail, derailing his career. After he's released he tries to restart his career, but the game has changed in the early 2000's and now he's a relic of a past age.
During the telling of his story Bones attempts to drink himself to death, after this Maddy takes him into her home, feeling guilty, but also selfishly wanting is story under her by-line. Bones tells his story, Maddy's editor loves it and her career is saved. Now Maddy sets him up at a half-way house and thinks she's done a great thing... Shortly after her story goes national she finds out Bones jumped from a bridge into the icy water.
