Logline:
Jean-François is captivated by Sophie’s charms. Having assumed the identity of Jérôme, he is doing everything he can to seduce this sparkling young girl without being exposed.
Synopsis:
Jean-François, a nervous and dishevelled young man in his twenties, has just returned from a year-long trip. He arrives at the apartment where he lived with his mother, but finds only boxes piled up, with no telephone, coffee maker, TV or furniture. His mother has disappeared without trace, leaving only an old address book. Jean-François is unemployed and doesn't know what to do: should he leave everything behind, try to find his mother or leave again?
He is sitting in a café when Sophie, a young woman of his age, approaches him, mistaking him for Jérôme, a man she met online with whom she is due to have her first date. Jean-François freezes, but goes along with it. They spend the evening together and hit it off, but Jean-François doesn't have the courage to reveal his true identity. He returns home, happy to have met a girl. Over the following weeks, he spends his time trying to understand who this Jérôme is and making sure that Sophie doesn't find out who he really is. He devises subterfuges to continue the charade, but he quickly finds himself overwhelmed by events.
With the help of his cousin Marianne and his friend Dave, he tries to get his life back on track and find his mother. The two find themselves, despite themselves, caught up in Jean-François's and Sophie's story. This leads to a series of romantic entanglements, false pretences, dissimulation and investigation, where nobody is who they seem to be and where lies take precedence over truth.
