VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR SPOTLIGHT: KEENAN LIVINGSTONE
Nadine: Tell us a little about yourself.
Keenan: Hi! I’m Keenan and I’ll be working as the Volunteer Coordinator for the FIN Atlantic Film Festival this season. I’ve always been passionate about meeting new people, supporting arts and culture in Halifax, and cinema – so I’m really looking forward to getting to know FIN’s volunteers as we look ahead to an exciting festival!
N: Why do you think that volunteering is important?
K: The work that volunteers do is what makes something like this happen. The passion, experience, and dedication that FIN’s volunteers bring makes such an amazing difference. There are so many ways that these contributions help enable and support all of the events: from setting up and greeting guests to making sure everyone gets where they’re going, volunteering is an essential component of the whole festival. I feel lucky to help work with our volunteers to set up a really amazing experience.
N: What are you most excited about in your new position with FIN?
K: I’m really excited to get to know all the people volunteering with FIN this summer: learning what got them interested in the festival, what they’re excited about, and how we as an organization can best support them in the work they’re doing. I hope I can help make volunteering with FIN an enjoyable and rewarding experience!
N: What is your favourite movie, and why?
K: I feel like my favorite movie changes with the season, but recently my partner and I have had a great time watching Ricardo Trogi’s semi-autobiographical trilogy: 1981, 1987, and 1991. They’re fun, engaging movies that certainly lend themselves well to a relaxing summer night alone or with friends.
N: What is your favourite movie snack?
K: I may be a little too conventional here for choosing popcorn, but it really is a delightful snack. Although I’m also a big fan of Chicago Mix, if I were to pick something a little more unique.
