Love Movies? Become an AIFF Pre-Screener!

The Atlantic International Film Festival (AIFF) is seeking candidates for festival Pre-Screeners for the 45th edition of our festival this fall; September 10-17, 2025.  Whether you have a background in film history, filmmaking, or are a cinephile, we’re looking for a diverse group of people who want to spend some free time watching and reviewing unique and thought-provoking festival submissions from voices around the world.

What is a Pre-Screener?

A Pre-Screener supports the artistic initiatives of the programming department by reviewing short or feature-length films submitted to AIFF.  The Pre-Screener will watch assigned films at home and then rate them from 1-10, along with leaving a few comments that provide context for your rating. The overall goal of a pre-screener is to identify films of interest to the Atlantic International Film Festival Programming team for further consideration as selections for AIFF.

What are we asking from our Pre-Screeners?

  • A commitment to screen up to 25 short films, or 5 narrative feature or documentary films per week (approximately 10 hours/week) between May 5 - June 23.

  • A strong & reliable internet connection

  • A passion for film

  • Familiarity with AIFF’s previous programming considered an asset

What do you get in return?

You will receive a complimentary pass to AIFF 2025, which gives access to the film selection, as well as an honorarium of $200 CAD. You will gain resume building experience in film screening that can be used in the future to apply for other programming positions. In addition, you will be one of the first to view some of the films that will premiere at our festival before they have been released to the public!
