AIFF Kids Call for Volunteer Teachers Advisory Committee members now open!

What is the Teachers Advisory Committee (TAC)?

The Atlantic International Film Festival’s Kids School Tour offers free film screenings and workshops to elementary school students across Nova Scotia every March. The Teachers Advisory Committee is essential in helping our team select films that connect with curriculum, Grades Primary - 12, as well as update educational resources that facilitate critical discussions.

What does a Teachers Advisory Committee (TAC) Member do?

The TAC committee supports the AIFF Kids programming department by reviewingshort or feature-length films shortlisted for the AIFF Kids School Tour. The Committee Member will watch assigned films at home, and identify a Grade recommendation for the film, along with a few comments that provide context for curriculum connections or content advisories. The overall goal of the Teacher’s Advisory Committee is to help identify the best in regional, national, and international films for youth, that are tied to Nova Scotia school curriculum, that tackle topical issues. and that will engage and inspire young viewers.

What are we asking from our Teachers Advisory Committee?

  • A commitment to screen approximately 25 short films and 2 narrative feature films (approximately 8 hours) between November 18 - December 6

  • Able to participate in a virtual Programming meeting the week of December 9, 2024

  • A strong & reliable internet connection

  • An interest in film

  • A strong understanding of Nova Scotia School Curriculum
